Update. The personal profile section has been scripted and ready. And so is the upload script. It took me 2 days to debug that and i fear that there could be more bugs but it seems to be working fine. A feedback section is also up and running. To give feedback, the user has to log in so that the function is accessible. The alignments could be a little off, but i think that is a small issue n could be addressed after the functions have been done. The main page would probably be up later tonight. I should be done with the forum bit and the search function tomorrow.

ps. I wonder if this has been said in the earlier post, but the user is able to change their avatars. Nice work by Zac, really love those socks! If anyone finds any bugs, please feel free to blog it, and i will see if i am able to fix it.

cheers,
royston

Ok. I have the register done up. Just some minor issues with the layout and stuff like that with the css that i am not too sure off. check it out at student.ci.qut.edu.au/~n4817206/kib812/index2.php. I'll be doing the member profile, gallery and uploading scripts on monday. And tuesday will be the forum script. i am not confident of getting the forum script done. seems a little more complicated than expected.

Ok. So far I am done with the logging in. Log out. Forgetting password script. Thats all that I could work with. I am downloading the rest of the site design now so that I can work on the rest of the functionality.

Just a quick update on where I am at. I have created a search script, an upload script, a login script (little buggy), and a register script and also a gallery that shows the thumbnails. However, I do need the html to put everything together. Cheers.

hey, I will not be able to attend the tute today in order to complete another assignment. However, I have posted a tentive brief, the work breakdown schedule and a mini timeline awaiting your perusal. If you guys need to contact me, email me or call or post a blog. I will be checking it everyday.

Re-defined brief (tentative)

The group is taking on the CIRAC project. Due to the massive nature of the project, with the project still in its infancy, the group has decided that we will give the client the product in stages. This is because we are only going to be able to build sections of the final website.

As a group we have decided that this web portal will focus on the community aspect of it. We feel that this is the most important part of the site, as we need user participation and awareness. We are not going to be the ones building the awareness, but we can build a site that is easy to use and functions well. It is going to be a tall order trying to design a site that caters to everyone, all types of designers and all ages, but if the functionality is sound, and easy to use, and with the right publicity, the member base will keep rising.

The client has stated that he is happy with any form of contribution to the overall project, as he understands that the site is not something that is achievable within 1 semester. The group has taken the liberty to deconstruct the site and work on a couple of the functions essential to the site. The work breakdown schedule will give the overview on what the site entails.

The methodology for approaching this project is the spiral methodology. This method suits us the best because we know that at the end, there will not be a final product, but more of milestones. This methodology also helps the client as he can review each section of the project while we work on the other parts. Having 6 people in a group allows some to be working on other sections while others get feedback from the client to improve the sections that have been uploaded.
This ensures that at any point in time, there will not be a lull period and everyone is working on a section of the project. This is also to prevent a bottleneck situation where the client is waiting for us or vice versa to hand in the project. It also helps to split the work equally amongst the group.
