it has been a while since the group met up to discuss what we have to do after the first assignment. There will be a mini presentation this thursday (not assessed, but refer to OLT site for the latest news. Check under the latest tutorial), but Jane wants to see the progress. I suggest that we meet up with Justin before that, to tell him our plan to tackle this project and see what he says. According to Jane, he seems fine with anything. We also have to meet and split the work up so that we have something to do in the meantime.

Research on Technology used

In http://www.deviantart.com and http://zed.cbc.ca, users are able to register, login and upload their creative work into the server, so that other visitors of the site can view their work.

For these functions, a DATABASE is required to store the information. The site would have a server-side technology, eg. Hypertext Pre-Cursor (PHP) to communicate with the server.

When a user uploads pictures/animation, it uploads into a server space. This means that for such a site, the server space has got to be massive to be able to store all these creative pieces.

Since this project is a protoype/scaled down version of deviantart and zed, the database used will be the school's phpMyAdmin server. The animation/creative artwork will be placed into one of the group members allocated server space.


Research on Meta data.
The next issue is the insertion of meta-data by the user. Meta-data are search tags embedded in a webpage that users search for on google.

Our own meta data can be created on our own site by asking the user to input descriptions when uploading their work. This description is then saved in the database. When another user tries searching for a word/phrase that corresponds with the description, he/she will be able to find the relevant creative piece.

Well i have changed the colours of the blog.
I got really fucking confused this morning.
I forgot the adress, so i typed in http://www.kib812.blogspot.com
And well i was really confused.
Considering it was the same colours, and it had someone on there called Mr Zak.
Anyway hopefully its easier to tell which is which.
